Guides / What Is Minecraft?
« on: April 01, 2012, 01:15:09 am »
Minecraft is a sandbox construction game. It is like a giant world of "virtual legos". It can be played in four different modes. Creative, Survival, **** and Multiplayer.

Creative:
You have all the materials, but the world is not as big as in Survival and **** mode. You have endless blocks, so it's a good way to start.

Survival:
You start out with nothing. You have to gather resources by for example cutting trees, mining some stone. With the resources you'll find you can craft various of different blocks, items, weapons etc.
It's a good idea to start out by making a house, shelter or somewhere to hide when it gets dark. This is why it is called Survival mode, when the darkness arrives, different types of monsters appears too.
But the monsters doesn't like light, therefore you need to make some tourches and build a nice house for yourself in order to survive.

**** mode:
Same as Survival mode, with one exception: when you die, you have to start all over. When you die in Survival mode you only loose the stuff you have in your inventory and respawn the place you started.

Multiplayer:
The most common modes on multiplayer is Creative or Survival. Some games are called Free build, here you are in some kind of classic mode, but with no terrain so you can just build. Some games have different mods installed, making the modes almost endless. Play with your friends.

Enjoy!

Guides / How To Install Maps!
« on: March 31, 2012, 03:48:02 pm »
Step 1: First off you need to download a map.

Step 2: Now that you have the file, it is most likely in .rar or .zip format. Unzip it with your favorite programme. If you don't have one, download and install WinRAR.

Step 3: Rename the file that you just extracted (it is most likely named World) according to which slot you want it installed to. For Example: If you want it as World 5, rename it World5.

Step 4: Now copy or cut your newly acquirred World5 folder.

Step 5: Go to Start button. Search %appdata%

Step 6: Find and enter the "Roaming" folder. Once inside that folder, find and enter .minecraft

Step 7: In the .minecraft folder, find "saves". Paste your "World5" folder into saves.

Step 8: You're good to go. Play on your new world. Have Fun!

Guides / How To Set Up Your Own Hamachi Server!
« on: March 26, 2012, 01:23:49 am »
Hello! I'm going to show you how to make an hamachi server that you and your buddy's can play on. I would only suggest you use this for you and your friends otherwise smart but idiotic people can hack into your computer.

Step By Step Tutorial:

Step One: Download Hamachi from: https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/download.aspx (Unmanaged)

Step Two: Get the server files from: http://www.minecraft.net/download download Minecraft_Server.exe

Step Three: Save that file into a folder on your desktop.

Step Four: Double click the server file. It should run and start sending in a bunch of new files in that folder.

Step Five: Close down the server command window by typing 'stop'. Then go into the file called server properties etc, open with Notepad/Wordpad, you choose.

Step Six: Open up hamachi and click the big power on button in the left hand corner.

Step Seven: Boom.. A massive number appears.. It will start with a five.

Step Eight: Go back into the server file and look for the line that has server-ip:

Step Nine: Now get your Hamachi IP by going onto your hamachi client and looking for the number near the top.

Step Ten: Put your Hamachi IP into where it says Server-ip= <Your Hamachi IP Here>.

Step Eleven: You may edit other stuff if you know what it does ect. Next, save that notepad/wordpad document and then double click the first thing you downloaded which was the server starter.

Enjoy!

Guides / How To Connect To Servers With Hamachi!
« on: March 26, 2012, 01:04:09 am »
Just like you, they will need Hamachi. When you first open up hamachi, you need to press the power button then click the network tab and "create a new network", create a name for it and a password, REMEMBER the password and name of the server. People join the server under the name and password. They join under the network tab labeled "Join another network" then enter the name and password of your server.

Hope this helps!

Guides / Minecraft Won't Load/Crashes? Read This!

FIX ONE:

Lower Render Distance-
Set your render distance one lower than it is already, this could prevent it from lagging and crashing.

FIX TWO:

Do a clean install-
First back up your saves.
Go to
C:\Users\<YOUR USER>\appdata\roaming\.minecraft
Copy the Saves folder to your desktop.
You may also want to back up texture packs.
Now delete everything else in the .minecraft folder.
Launch Minecraft and let it download all the files.
Now put your Saves folder back in your .minecraft folder.
You have just done a clean install and kept your saves.

If you are still having problems after that, try:
Open the Minecraft client.
Click on options (directly above Login).
Click on "Force Update!"
Click on "Done"
Log in to the game, and the client will re-download the game files.

Hope this helped. :)

Guides / How To Install Texture Packs!
« on: March 24, 2012, 10:59:20 pm »
1. Download a texture pack. Do not un-zip the downloaded file.

2. Open Minecraft and click Texture Packs on the main menu.

3. Click Open texture pack folder. This opens up the folder where the texture packs are stored. If the folder does not open you will need to manually locate it:

Windows: %AppData%\.minecraft\texturepacks

4. Place the texture pack in the folder leaving the file as a .zip.

5. The texture pack will now show up in Minecraft. Simply click the pack and it will be applied to Minecraft!

Mods / [1.2.5] TooManyItems!
« on: March 24, 2012, 10:31:17 pm »
Download: http://db.tt/b4MatAN5

TooManyItems is an inventory mod that allows you to create items in both single- and multi-player. When you open your inventory screen, left-click on the items on the right to add a full stack, or right-click to add 1 at a time. It has more features also, like fast crafting, moving items quickly to the chest, and a trash icon. You can also "save" your inventory for later, meaning you can transfer that loadout between worlds. With this mod you can also control the weather and the time of day. :D

Enjoy!
